    Tail light Re Chrome

    Hi Guys,

I am presently restoring a 61. My Tail Lights and front Parking Lights and Tail Lights are badly pitted. I was told to have the original ones re chromed if possible because of the quality of the originals over the after market. I am having trouble finding a good source of chrome work locally. Is that true about the after market lights? If so I would send then out if there were a recommended shop.

    Thanks,
    Jack Alexander 35730

Jack, I bought new repros from CC for front and rear lights and I am very satisfied with them.

agree with john. get the repos. they are just a tad better chrome than originals and less costly than having your originals rechromed. mike

Hi Jack, are you planning on having the car judged?
If so, compare closely, some of the repops have NTP configurations.
ie: recently we have seen replacements that have a thicker bezel area next to the body.
        Typically a minor deduction.

          Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if I will get it judged but I'm doing like I will. That is where the advice to get the originals re chromed originated. I think the guy I talked too said that the originals have a line around the exterior perimetrer that the repo's don't have. I'm getting a lot of things from CC in that a local NCRS Judge I know recommended them as a source.

          Thanks,

Paul's Chrome will do a good job with the pits, allow leadtime and $$$. I believe CC lights come from Trim Parts. These are great lights and if judging is not a top concern... this is the best way to go.
