'71 LT-1 flooding at start up

Had my original Holley carb rebuilt two years ago. All fuel lines, choke assembly, hoses, smog stuff are either original or correct. Until about 2 months ago with the engine cold, I would depress go pedel once, hear the choke set and start the car. It would fire right up and idle at about 1500 RPM until warm. Lately when I start it, I hear the choke set, the car starts but quickly boggs down with the engine flooded. I can start it with the accelerator fully depressed but it's a smokey, rough, miss-fire mess ,(which can't be good for the engine), until the flooding passes. Then it again runs great. No problem with re-start. Any ideas on the culprit? Thanks, in advance.
