    Bill,
There are some differences in interior rear view mirrors over the years. It will help if you tell us the year of your Corvette so that those of us who are too lazy to look at your public profile will know.

Guessing that we're talking about a '67...that's the first year the mirror glass was NOT crimped into the frame but attached to a grey rubber surround.

Personally, I simply don a pair of safety glasses, hold the mirror over a trash can and WACK the existing glass with a ball-pen hammer to crack it. Now, using pliers or gloves, simply extract the shards of the original glass, clean up the rubber backing and I'll bet you see reminants of yellow glue.

If so, that was used to force the glass to stay put. Some simply 'snap' the replacement glass into the rubber without an adhesive, but you can use something like 3M weatherstrip adhesive if you like...

Terry: I'm not sure the mirror is correct but I can tell you it has a grey rubber (retainer ?) around the mirror which I assume is retaining the glass but not sure. I tried to remove this piece but it is quite tight and I was afraid I would damage it so I'm asking for help............Thankx again, Bill #20328

Yes, do NOT attempt to remove the grey rubber! It's affixed to the mirror housing and it IS the mechanism that allows the mirror glass to tilt and execute the nite dimming function.

Leave it attached to the mirror housing and simply clean it when you extract the existing mirror glass.
