I would like to re-paint my hood underneath. What paint would be recommended? Is Krylon 1613 or SEM 39143 OK to use? Thank You

Re: Under Hood Paint
I strongly recommend against the currently available Krylon 1613, it is not same same product we learned to love. It has been reformulated and is now some type of environmentally friendly enamel. IMO it is basically the same quality as the 97 cent walmart brand paint. You can tell it by the tapered cap and the new nozzle, notice the part # is now prefixed with a 5.
The classic Krylon is still currently available ONLY thru Grainger or Fastenal as an industrial supply product. Same # 1613.You may have to tell them they carry it, and of course, now the list price is $5.75 a can. I have not been able to find a source for the classic krylon primers in grey, brown or black. If anyone has a source please advise?
But at least we can still get it- Top

Re: Under Hood Paint
Thank You Bill & Bill. I know the 1613 is different. When they added the 5 in front thay also changed the name to satin. I've tried it and don't like it. I know 1613 is harder to get, but I was in a Michaels awhile back and they had about 9 cans on the shelf. I bought it all knowing I'd be dong some work on the car this winter.
My concern and question regarding what paint to use under the hood was because of the heat from the engine.
So, will either the 1613 or SEM hold up for under the hood application????
Thank You- Top

Re: Under Hood Paint
I've found that my local Sherwin-Williams paint store still has 'ole #1613. I imagine they're considered a 'commercial' supplier, although thy seem very happy to sell to a retail customer with $.
