There is a 3814 Holley carb on ebay with a date of 1017. What is that date? The rest seems right for A.I.R, part number and list number. thank you Dale

four digit numbers indicate a service replacement date, I think that would make it 1980's or 1990's but my info does not go into that much detail on the four number dating except that it is definately a service replacement part. Also, some of the service pieces have two numbers stmped on the metering blocks, another item that will catch a judges eyes.

The production carbs were dated year-month-week in three digits. For instance 751 would be 1967, May, first week.

Why don't you post the link to that ebay carb, we'll take a look. Maybe it's a good deal for a service replacement.

Dale, good information from the guys.
In addition, to help clarify a response to your question, 1017 is a Julian date, the 101st day of '77, '87, '97 or whatever.

Thanks, I have an original that Jerry F. helped me get. I still look at them as they are so unusal and could not figure the date. dale
