    A/C cars and Tinted Glass

In 67 did cars with A/C automaticly get tinted glass in all windows or did it have to be ordered. My 67 has factory air and tinted windshield only. Need to be informed so I guess that means a Judging Manual......Thanx Bill #20328

Bill-- If '67 is like the other C2 years (and I suspect so), ordering C60 got you the tinted windshield gratis. and, if you had a coupe, also the back window. Side windows remained clear unless you ordered A01, yet they charged the same price for these 2 windows as for full tint.

      Hi,
You could also when ordering C-60 air conditioning, delete all the tinted glass, just checked the right boxes. I learned this with my own 67 air 400 4-speed m-21 coupe, had all original clear glass. Strange, why would someone do that?
Green car, saddle leather, shoulder harness, p/s,p/b,tele, real side pipes. 3:70 rear, all original
Someone got really creative, strangest combo! Bought the car about 10 years ago, I pulled the glass and went with full tint.

When you ordered a '67 with C60, all you got included was a tinted back window on a coupe. If you wanted a tinted windshield you had to order A02, or if you wanted all glass tinted, you had to order A01 (A01 cost less on a car with C60 than on a non-A/C car, since it already had the tinted back window).

          John,
Was there an option delete code for deleting all the tint glass with C-60 as I previously described ? When I bought the car I really questioned the clear glass, especially with the odd option combo, Drew Papsun reassured me when I told him about it after purchasing it, that it was possible.
          Thanks
          Bill

John -- had brain fade when I said windshield AND coupe rear window were included with C60.

But am curious about your last sentence. on '64-7 C60 coupes; the A01 ECL was "AB" for the full tint on air cars; ie. on the window sticker, would show as 02A01AB. As Noland says in Vol 2, this was used to indicate that the tinted rear window was already included in C60. This would be a cost saving at the plant if they charged the full A01 price to the customer. Problem is that I see no mechanism for a reduced charge to be passed on to the buyer, and that comparing full tint (say) $15.80 with windshield only $10.55, the approx. refund would be a whopping $2 .

Here's a pic of a '64 air coupe with tinted windshield A02 option; ie. the 2 side windows were clear.
