    69 Conv. windshield top moulding

    Hello Friends,
I bought a 69 that was disassembled. Does the chrome upper windshield moulding ( that the conv. top comes down on ) clip on or is it screwed on ? My 69 does not have any holes to screw this down to. The moulding does have a place for screws. Every one I have seen is screwed on. Help !
    Thanks, Danny Watkins

Try placing the molding on top of the windshield frame to identify any features the molding screw holes may align to...the header portion of the coupe T-top center trim is screwed to "stand-off" brackets that are welded to the top of the windshield frame. These brackets provide a substantial foundation for a relatively thin piece of trim that is elevated above the bottom surface of the windshield frame.

Alternately, if you still can't figure it out, I would recommend you purchase the 69 Assembly Instruction Manual. If the trim is supposed to be screwed to the windshield frame, it will indicate that plus the torque values for the screws.

I believe the method of mounting the molding you are referring to changed during the course of the 69 model year. Early cars do not use any screws and latter ones do. My mid Dec 68 built car does not have the screws.

I have a Nov build and it has screws. The AIM (J117) shows screws.
