    1954 Carter YH throttle shafts

I'm helping a friend work on his 1954 Corvette he has owned since 1964. I found information in the archives on correcting the fuel leaks in the YH carbs. His throttle shafts all seem loose in the throttle bodies. Does anyone have any advice on replacing bushings in these?

    Thanks

I'm not the expert but have an opinion. Based on experience with a 55 Chevy I restored the carb did not have bushings. So the shaft, which is a much harder material than the pot metal carb body, wore the hole through the carb pot metal over time to a larger size. This creates a vacuum leak. The solution is to replace the carb or drill out and bush the carb body to get a tighter tolerance.

Hopefully someone more knowledgable on carbs will have definitive advice.
