What finish is supposed to be on a 1970 gas cap? Is it cadium dichromate (gold colored) or what?

The first design sealed cap used in 1970 would be zinc plated. The later design sealed cap would have been zinc dichromate.

I don't have my TIM&JG manual handy, but I believe judges expect to find the silver cad or zinc plated cap on 70s.

I doubt the gold zinc dichromate cap made it onto any 70s...My G30 70 coupe (next to last day production) had an original sealed silver cad or zinc plated cap.

Gold iridite was used from 75 through 80 and accompanied the smaller restricted-size tank opening for unleaded fuel.
