And a few folks did just that. I wonder what the points deduct would be for that, ha!
The 58 Fuelie Vette engine I bought from a friend in late 58 was replaced by a 59 Pontiac V8 w/tri-power (ugh!). To fit that baby in just with little bonnet air filters required he make a hood scoop. As I recall, he went up in class at the strip, but barely beat the fuelies e.t. using big slicks. In fact, he didn't really see some improvement until he went to a sleeved block with 500 + C.I., a Giovanni cam, and two Rochester tri-powers on a log manifold. Guy really liked cubic inches. I thought the nice touch was the use of progressive linkage on the six RP's for economical cruising.
