    68 427 400hp Starter?

I am restoring a 68 BB and there are only a few parts that are not correct. My starter may be one of those parts, # 1107355-
    I think it should be a 1107365???

Is there any way my starter (I think GTO starter) should be on my car before I chase down a correct one?
If not correct, can anyone point me in right direction to chase down a correct one? My engine is late Dec 67 casting and car built in mid March 68.

    Thanks!

Patrick, you are correct in thinking that 1107365 is the correct starter.
They can be found on the most popular internet auction site, but watch out for re-stamps.
Over the past five years, I have found used, original cores for sale at swap meets (always at Carlisle).
I would also recommend that you check with fellow NCRS member John Pirkle (advertises in The Driveline). Pirkle will restore a core you find, or, if he has the date you need, also sells complete starters outright. His telephone number is: (706) 860-9047 (Augusta, Georgia).
I own a '67 big block myself. email me if I may ever be of help with tips, etc. I've met a lot of excellent vendors. Ridge.

        Thanks Ridge,
I will give John a call. I have time to shop around as well - taking body off frame right now.

        Thanks again!

Any tell-tale way to spot "restamps"?

Your GM #1107355 was originally used on 1968-69 Pontiacs, including but not limited to GTO's, with V-8 engines.

That CASE was used on a Pontiac, no way the nose or the rest of the starter was. They are completely different.
Pretty standard practice for rebuilders to put all the Delco 10MT starter cases in one bin and put on different noses for different part numbers and applications.
