Im tying to figure out witch style nuts are correct for the bolts that go through the front brake dust shields to the spindles thank you

Richard, They are self locking grade eight nut. There was a discussion a while back about these check the archives.- Top

They were a conical head, cadmium (NOT zinc) plated, stover-style, distorted thread, 7/16-20 lock-nut of GM 301M material grade (SAE grade 8) and of GM #9422300. They were discontinued from SERVICE several years ago.
Finding a locknut of the correct configuration/finish appearance is quite easy. Finding one of the correct configuration/finish AND of the correct material grade is NOT so easy. What makes it worse is that these nuts have critical safety implications and a lower grade nut must NOT be substituted.
Do not use hardware store lock nuts. They will be of ungraded material and WAY too inferior to use for this application.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
