    69 Frigidaire Compressor Model Number

The model number on my compressor is 5910693 and the date code is not legible.
I posted another thread regarding the originality of the compressor and based on feedback it was stated that 5910693 was used on early 69s, mine is Feb 69.

The TIM&JG (3rd edition, page 63) makes no mention of 5910693

    Thanks,

    Pat

    Hi Pat
I don't know what really is considered as an early car but I have a feeling it is the same as 68 model.

Early is cars built in Sept Oct Nov Dec for the following new models. For example the 68 cars, any car built in Sept to Dec of 67 is considered an early car. Jan 68 to feb is not an early car. I have a May 68 car and that is considered a late car.
So given that info you really don't have an early 69 car.
I don't have the 3rd edition JM but a 2nd edition and looking at the compressor numbers as follows:
    68 small block 5910645* Big block 5910645
    69 small block 5910741 Big block 5910740

    * This compressor is seen also on early 1969's through November of 1968

I remember you having a date code of 1688 on your compressor. 168 should be the day and the last 8 is year. 168 day of 68

I have sold some compressors 69 and it has a date code of for example A912
So that would be A for Jan, 9 for 1969 and 12 would be for the 12th day.
    I have a 70 compressor 591074 and it has a date of A028 making that Jan 1970, 28th day.

Hope this info helps. It is possibly someone put an early pump on your car long time ago as it failed????
    Thanks, Grant

      Hi Grant,

The information helps a lot. 168th day works out to be June 17th, so this is not the original compressor for my car. I will go with a refurbished A6, and get a label.

      Thanks again,

      Pat
