"Precision Stereo Repair" New Hartford NY?

    Hi,
I posted in another thread about problems with the wonderbar in my '62.
I'm going to be in the Syracuse NY area this week, so I thought I'd drop it at "Precision Stereo Repair". He advertises in Hemmings, has anyone here had him work on their wonderbar?

    Thanks,
    Paul

The two people mentioned the most around here for radio repair are Charles Siegfried (707-823-7827) and Tony Crutchfield (www.wonderbarman.com). Hope this helps.

      Paul,
Other members in our WNY chapter have had Precision restore their radios. They seem to play very well. So I did not hesitate to place job with him based on chapter members satisfaction. I had one done by him just before the holidays but have not installed it in the car yet. Price was very fair and time was as expected per phone conversation prior to placement with him.

The ONLY above choice should be Charles Siegfried. Wonderful, excellent work at a fair price. The other one ain't!

Thanks guys. I spoke with Robert at Precision, and based on your recommendation Gene I'm going to bring him my radio this week.
The big advantage for me is that I don't have to risk loss or damage due to shipping, drop it off this week and pick it up on my next trip.

I sent Robert my 1956 radio and he did a great job fixing it. For a AM radio it picks up alot of stations. I would use him again or reccomend him. Hope yours sounds as good as mine does.Mark

Ditto the support for Robert at Precision I had two radios repaired by him 1988 and 1976, both were done in reasonable time, reasonable price and work excellent. Will send my next repair to him. I have recommended others to Robert and they have been very pleased as well

Re: "Precision Stereo Repair" New Hartford NY?

                Hi guys,
Well, sorry to say, but I had a bad experience with Robert Pacini of Precision Stereo.
I had emailed him and spoken with him on the phone, and he sounded fine. The deal was that I would bring the radio with me on my business trip to upstate NY, and deliver it to him Thursday afternoon when I left our plant. I emailed him Thurs and then called him as I was leaving. I told him it would take me about an hour, he said no problem, he'd wait even if it was after his closing at five. He did ask that I call him to tell him if I was going to be more than ten minutes late, and I replied that I would, and for him to call me if anything came up.
The trip was 50+ miles on back roads in a shush storm, so I called him at five on the dot to say I was about four miles from his door, I got his machine. I got there at 5:15, and the place was closed. Man was I steamed! I waited about half an hour and called again, I thought maybe he had had to step out for a sec, nope. I was several hundred miles from home, 50+miles from the interstate and no radio guy! I even tried information for his home number, no luck.
In the end I found a Staples up near the Canadian border, followed my buddy Terry Robertson's advice and shipped it to Jerry Rudbeck in SC. I had emailed Jerry previously and he sounded great, but I had figured I would avoid the risk of potential loss or damage due to shipping by going with Precision Stereo.
I never did get an email or call back from Robert with an explanation, who knows...?
To Gene and the others who recommended him, absolutely no hard feelings, I know your recommendations were based on your positive experiences in dealing with him.

                All the best,

                Paul
