    1968 Horn Relay Wiring

    I hope someone can help me out. I've checked the archives with no luck.

    I am replacing my engine compatment wiring harnesses. The old harness was so hacked up it is little to no use for determining proper wiring, etc.

    As far as I can tell, there are six wires (besides the grounds) that get connected to the horn relay.

    1) Black and orange together on a u-terminal;
    2) Heavy gauge red wire on a u-terminal which is part of the headlamp harness;
    3) Heavy gauge red wire on a 90 degree u-terminal which is part of the ignition harness;
    4) Dark green wire on a spade connector;
    5) Pink wire on a spade connector;
    6) Black wire on a spade connector.

    Numbers 4, 5 & 6, plug into the bottom of the horn relay and I have those OK.

    My question has to do with numbers 1, 2 & 3.

    These, I believe, get connected to the screw terminals on the front of the horn relay. One of these terminals is labeled "Bat" which I assume is the battery.

    I believe that #1 gets connected to the screw terminal not labeled "Bat".

    Can somebody confirm the that I am correct regarding #1 and also which of the red wires get connected to which of the screw terminals?

    Also, there are two black wires with ring terminals. One is the voltage regulator ground and the other is the horn relay ground. Does somebody know where the horn relay ground gets connected? Is it connected to the horn relay mounting stud? I can't find any indication in the AIM or the Service Manual.

    Thanks for any replies.

    Michael -

    For the terminals that get connected to the screws, it doesn't matter which screw terminals you connect to - both are the same electrically - they're on a common 12V buss.

      Duh, I saw that but figured I must have missed something. I guess I didn't. Thanks John.
