painting c2 exhaust manifolds

on a 65 327 365 i understand the jg book calls for exhaust manifolds and all bolts, french locks to be painted orange engine color ,but it doesn't say if the cad brackets for the side shielding were on when the engine was painted or if the exhaust manifold bolts wre removed and then the brackets for the plug shields wre put on . anyone know for sure and should i paint the entire exhaust manifolds orange.........???

Hi Jim, the Flint Plant didn't know if a radio was to be installed so the 'L' shielding brackets were not installed until St Louis assembly. You can look at the AIM and see what assemblies were added at St Louis during final assembly. Yes, the exhaust manifolds got a full blast of paint but it doesn't last long!

If a part is shown in the Assembly Manual with a part number called out for it, it was installed at St. Louis.
