69 SB Spark Plug Shields Covers

Started to replace spark plugs wires and can not get my hands on all the speed nuts that attach the shield covers.

I is evident that doing this is a royal pain and some are probably better accessed from the bottom.

Do you need to remove the A.I.R. tubes from the exhaust manifolds to access these shields. Do you need to access some form the bottom?

Any help is appreciated which will save a great deal of skin on the hands & knuckles.

I've always been able to get most of them from the top with one exception. The exception is the left rear shield. The wing bolts can be easily removed from above but the shield is more easily removed and installed by lowering or raising it from below.

The AIR tubes do not need to be removed. Removing them might make the job easier, but you'd find they don't remove so easy.

No need to remove the air tube connections but you will need to remove the shields and this task is not easy. You will find that you will have to work from the top and bottom and you might want to jack your car up to save your back when working from the top. Loosen the inboard exhaust manifold bolts and move the speed mount brackets 180 if you want to change the plugs while your at it. The speed nuts near the fire wall are a pain a long nosed plier is handy.
