    1967 Hardtop

was looking at a hardtop for a friend - have no reason to believe the hardtop is not original to his car - does have the AS4 logo in rear window, but NO date - installation, etc. of rear window appears to be correct

looked at the judging sheets and line item for this shows 20 points each for ORIG and COND - line item sez something like LOGO and DATE, and maybe something else - he is worried if he has car judged with hardtop he will lose the full 40 points!?

am thinking he would/could lose half the ORG points - so would lose 10 points, but should get FULL points on COND

    what sez youse "sage" gurus??????

    Rick,

Have seen several HT's that the date does not show. It's slightly under the weatherstrip and cannot be viewed unless you carefully lift the weatherstrip.

      Re: 1967 Hardtop

      Rick,

I have an original 67 hardtop on my 67 convertible. (top is now in storage). Judged twice and no one could ever find a readable date code.
Took a minor deduct, with the comment "date code not readable" both times on condition.

Taking a look at JR's post, maybe I'll look under the weatherstrip.
      Thanks for the tip JR.

        Re: 1967 Hardtop

Hi Rick. I agree with Joe, it is under the weatherstrip. If the owner wants to show me, okay, otherwise I let it go if all else appears original. Most convertibles show up without the hardtop, so I don't see it often. Minor deduct.

My `67 , with an absolutely original untouched back window, has no visible date code. Probably there, but I am not diging into the w/s to find it. I have seen many, especially 67s that did not show.

OK you guys: is this May (month = E) of 1965 (year = E), with the month at the upper right ? I vaguely recall that the location of the month and year changed places for MY 1966+ ... is that correct ?

I looked for my date code as well on my believed to be original HT, and couldn't find it. Car has been in the family since '73.
