    Re Correct Aztec Copper Paint

Thanks to Ed McComas and everyone who has replied to my post about Aztec Copper Paint for '56 & '57 Corvettes. All of you have given me things to think about. I would definitely like to talk to someone who has had their car top flighted painted this color. The shade I feel sure can be matched but the metallic is another thing. It appears to be really small. We will see what I can come up with. Thanks again!

When John Neas gets back from overseas he would be a good guy to ask as he just had his 56 top flighted in FL.

Brooks, the offset for PPG lacquer is - 59297. DuPont Lucite code was 4382-LH. Finishes other than lacquer often have lighter shades/tint. Example; two stage Artic Blue is extremely more silver than blue. Recommend trying to match to the deck lid underside or some known good paint. Chips for 56-7 are non-existant except for the color brochure charts and their colors have deterioated since they were made. Do some spray outs to test the color and tint. Bill Hirsch mike have nitrocelleous lacquer available. As Roy Braatz advised "make sure the metal flakes are small". Often the wrong size metal flakes are used. Good luck, Gary....
