    Door Window Adjustment

I am installing the windows in the doors on a 69 and I am having problems. I started on the passenger side and with great difficulty got all the bolts installed on the window. I find that when the window is raised, the top of the window goes way to close to the interior side of the car. I know there is adjustment at the top of the door, but there is not enough to make a difference. The rollers on the windows are in the tracks and everything appears to be installed correctly. Is there any adjustment at the bottom of the inside of the door? Is there some trick that I am missing?

Thanks for your help in advance

    Joe

    Joe,
I can't help you, cause I too am having some unfixable alignment problems with my 68 roadster, but maybe, if there are others out there that have had similar problems we can get some info. My problem started when I got a new reproduction one from Ecklers and these new ones, with the different lower straight edge, are problematic. So says the guy I got a (date correct) replacement old style one from. My old style (incorrect dated Dec 73) window worked fine before I removed it. I'll let you know if this replacement origional style (Sept. 67, date correct) one fixes my problem. I don't have enough aft adjustment in the channel slots and have a window gap top rear. Do you need a VU left side roadster?

      Hi Joe and Dale,
Have you taken a look at the GLASS ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE in the AIM.
It's pretty incredible!!! There are 19 items for a coupe and 17 for a convertible. If you haven't looked yet perhaps you'll find some answers there.
In my 71 AIM it's in UPC 1, sheets K 11 (coupe) and K 13 (convertible). Plus there are cross section details on K 12, and K 14.
I think it's more than enough to keep you busy this weekend.
      Regards,
      Alan

        Allen,

I hate to ask but what is AIM? ___ instruction Manual? I have a Chevy shop manual for 69's and others but none seem to be helpful. I will continue to ponder the problem. If anyone can PDF the installation/adjustment instructions and email mail them to me that would be appreciated.

        Dale,

The glass is original to the car and it fit when I took it out??? I took the glass out to have the car painted. It really is a pain to get my hands in the cavity...........

        thanks

        Joe

          AIM = Assembly Instruction Manual.

It is a collection of some/most of the drawings used by the folks who assembled your car. It is year specific, but it is also a slice in time and may not have all the early or late model differences. All that said, not too much changed through the year. Don't settle for a short cut -- buy the dxxx thing. Click on the button at the top of the page that says "NCRS Store" or call the membership office in Cincinnati. They'll get one to you chop, chop.

            Joe,

In addition to owning the AIM, the other manual you should have is the Chassis Service Manual which thoroughly explains all of the window adjustments, plus a lot of other information. It can be purchased from the NCRS store:

              Hi Joe,
I'm sorry you weren't familiar with the AIM.
When you get a copy I think you'll find it has so much good and usable information it will CHANGE your life! Well, at least your Corvette life.
Good luck with your window adjustment.

Plus, the CSM (Chassis Service Manual) has a section dedicated to the Corvette body because Corvette was body by Chevrolet vs. the rest of the passenger car lineup which were Body by Fisher. The passenger cars required the purchase of a separate manual from Fisher describing the body...

Now, for the good news... If memory serves, the CSM has a nice little write up describing what adjusting bolts on the door have what effect on the window glass and its position relative to the door!
