65 Fuel Injection Transistor Ign Cap

OK guys, got a question asked today.

What is a correct 65 fuel injection with transistor ignition distributor cap look like?

1.- Brown, shorter than a standard ignition cap, has copper connectors.

OR

2.- Black, shorter than the standard cap and actually looks the same as a fuel injection 63-65 cap, has copper or alumnium connectors.

I believe #2 is correct with alumnium connectors. #1 was used on L-88 engines only.

You are correct; #2 is how it was. The cap was a GM #1943047, aka Delco #D-310. It was BLACK with short towers and aluminum terminals. There may have been some D-310 caps manufactured that used the brown alkyd plastic and copper terminals but, if there ever were any, I think these were a later SERVICE piece.

L-88 did not use a short tower cap, at all.
