    67 steering column date

I have a late 67 with an early column. My column hub has what looks like a date code stamped in about the 5 o'clock position. My early column has a code 349 6. I assume this would be the 349th day of 1966.
My question is, are all columns dated? I would like to find a late column and want the date to be in line with my june built car. Thanks, Kurt

    Re: 67 steering column date

Kurt my steering column is dated 161-7 (14 june 67) and the build date of my car is 23 june 67.
The date of your column 15 dec 1966 my be the one that came in your car. Its at the end of the 6 month range.

My early car (#183) has a papery/plastic wrap around it. I was told that was for early cars only, is this true?

          Re: 67 steering column date

Bill, Thanks for the info on your car. Since our cars are so close in build dates, I would need a column dated like yours. The TIM&JG page 124 says Vins 9400 and earlier would get my early design column.
I found a later design column but the seller says his has no date on it. He says he has other columns without any date codes. I was thinking it should be dated. Yours proves it. Thanks, Kurt

                Re: 67 steering column date

I can't fine a date on my hub or column. Can someone please be more precise as to where the dates are. I have a telescopic column if that makes a difference and it is original to the car. My 67 is a Dec. 7, 66 assembly date, #543X.
                Thanks in advance,
                Warren

                  Warren,
could be the Tele and your car may a bit early.
Stamp is located on the bottom of the turn signal collar, near the steering wheel hub.

                    Warren,
The date code was stamped on the upper bell hub.
Is your column a first design? If thats the case it probably will not have a date, I do not think any of the first design columns tele or std have dates.
Can anyone that has a first design with original bell hub comment?

Here is what the assembly drawing says about date codes on the 1967-68 C2/C3 standard (non-adjustable) and telescoping columns.
