    Early '58 Hood Prop Rod

I'm looking for a photo of the early '58 prop rod lower mounting with the rod on the passenger side. Does anyone have such an animal? Thanks

Because it uniquely mounts to the radiator support instead of the later surround raingutter when it was moved to the Driver's side. I would like to see a correct installation. Is that an acceptable reason?

I never knew they existed. I would be interested in a photo as well.

Hi Chuck, I restored 58 vin 297 back in the 80's. It had all the 'early' stuff on it. The RH hood support mounted with the 'big end' on the back side of the rad support, mounting bolts towards the centerline of the car on the large bottom flange. This required the usual low mounted generator and 57 style pulleys etc. to keep away from the hood support. I wrote an article around 1990 if you have the CD to look at. Believe the bottom mount was at the top two holes in rad. support. Hope this helps!

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!
