    Battery Conditioner/Tender Recommendation

I am looking for guidance regarding recommendations on battery Tenders or Minders that continuously monitor/charge batteries during storage. I see advertisements in the Driveline, Hemmings, Corvette Central, etc. for a variety of products that range in price from $19 - $149

I have a red top Optima in my '58 and my desire is to keep it as long as possible.

Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I have 3 Battery MINDers, and like them very much. No issues at all, and they work well.

I use the 0.75 Amp battery tenders on my lead acid water filled battery cars. Battery Tender make's them for 6 or 12 volt battery's. No water loss and these tenders use very little electricity. I always keep the negative cable disconnected or use a battery cut off switch on my cars. The Optima battery hold's a charge much longer than a water filled battery. Your call If you want one for your 58; the tender can be used on the resin filled Optima. Leaving the tender hooked up to your Optima will do no harm and will show a green light when the battery is charged. I use a Battery Minder from Restoration Battery on my repro 63 Restoration Battery. I have had water loss during the hot summer months here in Florida, so I have to check the water level more routinely if the car sets for a couple weeks or so. I regularly disconnect the gound as well.

I also have a Black and Decker unit on my spare Optima Battery sitting on a wood block on the floor beside my car. It keeps a full charge and is ready to go should my Restoration (show) Battery fail.
