Late 60's seat belt buckles

The buckle cover on the left is from my 67. The right one was obtained from a GM vehicle in a salvage yard. Notice the difference in the area highlighted by the orange paper.
Will the one on the right work on my 67? I slipped it on part way and it seemed very tight and I didn't want to force it.
It is my understanding that the covers are not being reproduced and cannot be restored.

I looked at the date codes on the belts. The one of the left is typical of the three sets marked 66 and 67. The one on the right came from a set marked 65.
