    Judging Points Question

Where can NCRS members see how many judging points they have accumulated?

I didn't see this information in the Judging Reference Manual.

    Thanx,

    Re: Judging Points Question

At the Florida Regional Judging Meeting, Roy Sinor (National Judging Chairman) said that your point total / judging level would be sent to you in the near future. This would be the points that you have accumulated through the end of 2008.
The total will only be sent to you if you have a judging level change since the last update was sent to you.

      Re: Judging Points Question

I have always been amazed at how Roy finds the time to keep everyone's point tally anywhere near current, given the amount of time he spends on the road and the time delay for chapter and regional paperwork to find it's way back to him.

I am also aware that some people track their point total more closely than their own stock portfolio and demand an updated total each time they gain a single point.

Perhaps requests for points total be limited to once per year?

Having said that, and given that we are making the initial steps into the electronic information age, it would be nice to have the points total available on line- obviously protected by userID and password.

Any volunteers to help out with this function?

My advice to you is to also keep track of your judging points yourself. I keep a spread sheet of each event. I break it down by location, date, type of event such as chapter judging or regional judging or school and the number of points received at each event. The Judging Reference manual will tell you what you can earn at each event and the maximum number of points you can earn at these events. I have done this since I started judging and it has come in handy.

I too am amazed and impressed by what the man does for this organization.

          Kudos to Roy Sinor!

I know how many points I have, I just want to know if my *official* tally is correct. The reason I'm so interested at this particular time is because I just earned my 10th point at the SE Regional. That would make me a level 1 judge.

I agree with Bob Demmel. I have my file in the computer. Quite often I have found that some chapter did not send points in to Roy.

                Floyd,

Assuming you got that 10th pt in 2009, your total then won't be reflected until the 2009 point totals are calculated after the year is complete (in 2010). As someone mentioned, you do not get an update until you cross levels.

I would guess that creating a web page on this site that displays the data Roy is already keeping in a spreadsheet would be the easy part and would take about 20 minutes. The hard part is implementing the process that gets the points off of scoring sheets, class attendance records, etc. and into the database. The process would have to be timely and accurate or Roy would spend all his time answering questions like, "where's my points from last week's meet?" or "Why doesn't your total match mine?"

                    Guys,

If you search hard enough you will find this very discussion where I indicated this new board with access by membership number and name would offer untold benefits. One of them will be the capability of looking up your judging level. Hopefully that will include a date that says information supplied in this table is current with that submitted through xyz date. I have not seen the prototype or the layout but I am told it is under development.

In talking to Roy at the Florida Regional he also pointed out that the delay in getting the information from the meet coordinators can be considerable. Another point Roy had - sometimes people don't write clearly or omit information, such as their NCRS number, in which case you would get no credit.

Just a lot to go wrong. People being people they sometimes aren't as careful as they should be (not that I'm like that, at all)

Besides all the things mentioned that must be on Roy's 'to do' list..... there's that wonderful new car to get to know. Congratulations!!!!, and I enjoyed reading about your experiences with it.

So- since it's only 20 minutes and you have a vested interest in seeing it, are you volunteering?

                          Thanks!
