    corvette museum delivery

just ordered an '09 z06 and decided to utilize the r8c factory delivery. was curious about others experiences with this option. has anyone done both the r8c museum delivery AND the buyer's tour? i read the info on the ncm website regarding museum delivery, was hoping to get firsthand accounts on the experience. thanks!

      Kenny,

Check your email, absolutely a fantastic experience...just completed the buyers/photo tour in December (article in next Restorer)...if anyone has the patience to order a new Corvette and not take one out of dealer stock, it's definitely the way to go.

I have had customers do both MANY times. For sure do the buyers tour with the new photo album option. Be aware that you will have to make two trips to BG as you will watch the car being built one week and then pick it up at a later date, not the same day.

Let us know when you delivery is, We can watch you on the museum webcam !!

I just did that (just before Thanksgiving) with a friend who bought an 09 coupe. She absolutely loved the experience. She was thrilled to be able to start a new Corvette (not her's) during the buyer tour and get a "Corvette Birth Certificate". Apparently not all buyer tours include this; it is on a case by case basis as the line situation permits.

Well worth the experience, and cheap at the price. DO IT!

I did it a bit over a year ago. There are several posts in the archives about it. They didn't have the photo book option when I got my Corvette -- I wish they did.

The whole experience is not to be missed. Spend the money; it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most of us.

I missed the Buyer's Tour because they rescheduled my build day at the last minute and I couldn't drive all the way from Montana and make it in time. I wish I could have, but since I don't own a private jet it didn't happen.

I did the museum delivery, and my biggest suggestion is this - be sure you take delivery on a day when the plant is open if you also want to take the plant tour AND a day when the delivery prep guys are there. Yes, I missed out on the plant tour too, though I plan on taking my tour later this year (they still "owe" it to me).

One more tip - if you live anywhere with snow, wait to have your car built until you can drive it home. Not much fun loading it into a trailer and then putting it in your barn for 6 months.

                    Hi Ken !

I have had cars built on a Tuesday and arrive on Wednesday, but that is rare. I would not say it is impossible to get the tour and delivery in the same week, but it is unlikely. If you call Gary or Lori at the museum, they may be able to assist. Typically a two to three week window are required between events due to paperwork, proof of payment issues as well as GM internal issues such as quality audits (hold) and delivery team schedules. Both programs are a great experience and benefit the NCM. Thanks for choosing GM and the new Corvette !!
