    Oil Pan Id?

In 1989 I ordered an oil pan for my 60(FI) from Wilcox and part number listed on invoice said "359937", a number I can't find in my '72 catalog nor the original number. It looks like ones listed on ebay from time to time. It has one indentation, has the trap door, but has the small drain plug in the correct location.
Finally, decided to build the 283 and plan to use pan if it is close to original. Anyone familiar with this pan?
Also, did the 283 use a windage tray attached to the bottom end, if so, is it like the 327 flat tray?
    Thanks,
    Lou

Louie, check an earlier post "58 oil pan" from the last two weeks. Here's photo I took of '60 FI pan at the Florida Regional last week. Gary....

Gary, the pan I have has the small plug head as in the picture. I think, and I'm wrong more often than not, the 60 pan should have the larger head plug. Also is one or two grooves correct?

Louie, sorry am not very knowledgeable on anything past '57. Just took that photo for Tom Dingman. Might send Tom an e-mail from the Member's list or perhaps he'll see this post. Gary....

The GM #359937 was a mid-1970's replacement for earlier 1957-62 oil pans. It's external configuration is very similar to the original pans. The primary difference is that the 359937 uses the 1975+ style rear oil pan seal configuration. The 75+ gasket set was usually supplied with the 359937 oil pan. However, if you don't have it, you MUST be sure to use the 75+ gasket set with this pan. Otherwise, if you use a set with the pre-75 rear seal, you'll have a MAJOR leak.

It's also supplied with the 9/16" across-the-flats filler plug. You can easily change this to the large head, as-original.
