1969 Brake Caliper Rebuild

Has anyone on this board sent out your original calipers to a vendor with the specific instructions to have your originals rebuilt and returned to you? If so, how did that turn out?

We've done it a few times with Vette Brakes, and had them install the O-ring pistons. No problems at all.

Be sure to check your casting numbers, etc before you send them out.

I did it many years ago (about 20) with Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation (Clarence, NY) and had no problems. I "secretly" marked each caliper half and the 8 I got back were the 8 I sent them.

Mark, I also used VBP with no problems. They also come back painted the correct black, not silver. Call them as the price is slightly more because they have to assign a tracking number to your original calipers.

in 2001 I sent my 4 original calipers to VB&P in Saint Petersburg, Florida for a O-ring restoration.It took 2 weeks and cost me $429.00, not counting the $71.00 for shipping from Connecticut to Florida.
I wrote down all the part numbers and serial numbers and the orientation they were in, I got back the same calipers, however, they were all mixed up (not in the same orientation as how I sent them),but they came out great and I haven't had any problem with them.If I recall correctly I had the option of a couple of different finishes (natural, cast black, etc...)
I also sent my master cylinder to Paragon and asked for my original to be restored but received back a different mc than the one I sent them

I have used VB&P years ago with no problems. A freind uses White Post and is very satisfied.

I have used Corvette Stainless Steel Brakes (CSSB) to do several sets of calipers and also a few master cylinders. Always got mine back, like Joe I marked them. Some of you will remember them as the Bus Boys at Carlisle, Florida, and a few other meets. Luke and John Putz
