    1969 L-36 e/w TH400 rear ratio options

    Can anyone help with the rear ratio options available in 1969 for an L-36 e/w the TH400?

    Bill -- from the 1969 Power Train Chart: L36 w/Turbo Hydramatic
    Std. ratio = 3.36; Economy = 2.73. positraction required for both, no difference with or without A/C. No other factory ratios availiable with L36 auto.

    Does your "e" mean early ? Not sure if this is a factor

      I think the chart you're referring to has some incorrect information in it. For 1969, the standard ratio for L-36 with THM-400 was 3.08:1. The only optional ratio was 2.73:1. I don't think that 3.36:1 was available, at all, with this powertrain.

          You're correct, Joe -- the problem was me , I misread the table. Should'a been 3.08 ratio, not 3.36.

          Must'a been a flashback (or flash-forward) to the 1971 MY, where St.Louis produced a few '71's with base equipment that should have had 3.08's but got 3.36's (computer screw up). For same reason, some with option ZQ9 got 3.08's, but should have had 3.36's. Tech Service Bulletin 71-T-10 (Aug 20, 1971).
