Hey Mike,
I have an original paint black 54 corvette that came from Mass. I have documentation back to 1965 when it was first registered in Florida with a Mass title. I can't get any records from the Mass DMV as they were destroyed in a fire. Do you think this could be the same car that your friend Walt Black owned? Is there a way to contact him to ask about his car? My black vette was also owned by Douglas H. MacArthur & was featured in a Blue Flame article in 1975 which can be viewed online. Thanks, Pat

walt black was still above ground but ill the last time i talked to NCRS member rick twining, who lives close to walt and is good friends with walt. i don't have ricks contact info but carlton colclough or dave brigham may be able to provide ricks info.both canton and dave 's contact info is on page 2 of the Restorer mag. walt had the black one, registered in mass in the mid 80's. i bought a 39 chevy woody from walt in the late 80's. i have no idea where, or if,gerry(?jerry) pings still is above ground. he left maryland in the late 80's. good luck, mike

Hey Lynn - great to see you on here.
"Supposedly" there were "only" 4 black cars produced. - note my quotes
Today there are many black 54's running around
one of my 54's was black at one time
Unless you can get rock solid proof from the 50's or find original over spray, under moldings, under the windshield is a perfect place to see the tape line or tops of the doors - otherwise you will never know
I wouldnt pay a premium price for it
Majority of the cars were white
as noted above - there is no trim tag and no color id written anywhere like 56 and on up.
