1964 Corvette Holley 2818-1

I've found a 2818-1 holley for my 365hp. This carb must be a service replacement because the # on the air horn is 7028. Does this code translate to the 72nd day of 1968? Would this carb be correct for my car, and is it worth buying? What is the point deduction for it not being the original? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

The 4-digit date code suggests this carb is, in fact, a service replacement from later years (1977?). Expect to lose 20% of the available originality points for an incorrect Date and perhaps more if the Configuration of the service replacement carb differs in minor yet visible forms from the known factory original 2818 units used in production.

Purchase decisions like these are always difficult and it's a personal decision as to how much $$$ and time you devote to digging up that real McCoy part vs. grabbing a service replacement which will cost you some judging points... Both of my Corvettes have 'some' service replacement part content and that didn't stand in the way of their winning awards!
