62 Hood Release
My hood release handle does not "return" after pulling it to release the hood. Other than the than the spring on each side of the catch mehanism is there supposed to be a return spring under the dash somewhere. I have looked and looked in the AIM and don't see anything or are going blind. Any help is appreciated....John

The only spring is what is on the female catch.
My 62 works the same way as what you described! My latches and hood release both were NOS when we installed them during the body off five years ago.

The hood release on my '61 works the same way. I don't know if it worked that way 48 years ago or not!

Could timing get any better? See th new edition of the Corvette Restorer Volume 35, Number 3 Winter 2009. Hits the nail on the head. I may have to give it a try and most importantly DO NOT LET THE HOOD CLOSE while doing this.Comment
