    Another rare item

RPO rear scoops and dust covers...1957 to 1962. 1959 and later scoops shown. They were redesigned to clear the new traction bars.

Factory big brake cars were delivered with the dust covers installed to cover the screens in the vented backing plates. The scoops were in a hopsack bag in the trunk.

Not many dust covers ever got reinstalled after being removed for scoops to be installed.

    Joe -

A few years back I ordered bolts from Long Island for the C2 dust covers thinking they would be the same as required for my 60. They turned out to be a different size, and would not work on my backing plates. Were the C2 dust covers the same as C1?

Thanks for the great picture Joe! I have only seen a couple of them at one time before!

Sorry, but I don't know if mid year backing plates used different bolts. Did midyears even have vented backing plates? Anything I know about midyears is limited..

I would expect the dust cover bolts for 57 to 62 to be the same..but cannot say that for sure.

I have a set of early fine screen vented backing plates with a few dust covers still in place and believe the bolts are original...and would be happy to meaure and advise if you are still looking. Could even pull one and send it to you to use as an example. Just let me know.

I think the dust cover bolts are B&H logo, much like the ones on the 57/8 FI fuel filter, but a different thread; might also find some holding the wheel cylinders.

loren is correct, my 61 rpo backing plate shields are fastened with B & H hex head bolts. think some powerglides can supply similar B&H's.mike

              Course thread as I recall...

Maybe the same as seen on the corners of oil pans? I don't believe they were exclusively B&H logo but a mix.

Thanks, I think I have some old rusty bolts that were on mine but assumed they were not correct. I'll wire brush one to look for markings. I just assumed they would be the same for the 63-4 cars.

This is an example of an historic thread from Joe Trybulec that (at least for me) does not include the attachments.
