    Thanks for posting the photos. They warmed me up on this cold evening in the northeast.

      Richard, The very early 57 FI chassis looks quite interesting.The ultra rare mint louvred air cleaner is something else. That is a very early 57 FI unit for sure. Very nice pics.
      Who were the two men standing in front of the chassis? Was Ken Kayser one of them?

      Guys, Notice the rare fuel filter cannister. That's probably the only one you will ever see. I have heard of the real deal smooth cannister but never saw one.
      Frank Cichon had one of those. Once again that is one of the earliest 57 FI's you will ever see.

      Oops. I didn't look at all the pics. I didn't realize that is the first fuelly car. But that particular unit on the chassis not #1 as it's a highly polished and chrome unit. This unit though may be # 2 or #3. Wow!!!! So the chassis a 56 and not a 57. I enlarged the magazine article which is what I should have done in the 1st place. Kenny just has to be involved in this project.

        Hi John....Yes it's Ken Kaysers' first Fuelie car that he's restoring. One of the photos of the fuelie unit shows it's serial #3. "1003" at the rear of the unit. I enlarged it below. Ken was there. I spoke with him for quite some time and he explained the story. He also acquired unit #001 from a gentleman back in 2003, which is the unit that was originally on the 57 Super Sport Motorama car. Yes it is a polished unit as he explained.

        I had some particular interest in all of this as a friend of mine owns the actual '57 Super Sport.

          Richard;

          Thanks for posting. I see my sveldt self in the background on several shots as I was hanging around my son's 78 P.C. in the sportsman lot much of the time. I just hate doing it, but it is always a challenge to check out the judging demonstration cars to find something incorrect or at least questionable. My favorites are, of course, the 63's, and the only thing I noticed about the black Duntov SWC 340 hp was the use of a thumb screw (instead of hex head) on the power brake M.C..

          The Mad Max car was interesting as well. Actual versions of such cars may become more popular in the coming days of anarchy.

          The 56 SR-1 went through judging (John L.'s). That should make Tom Parsons happy.

            Rich, Thanks for the good info. The 1003 stamp at the rear of the plenum is not typical but it is for real. Typically they stamped the number on the early units on front plenum leg.(drivers side). I can remember years ago at a BG show in Springfield, IL when I was called over to look at an early 57 FI car. Seems the judges really dinged the car because there wasn't any number on the front of the plenum-nor an ID tag. Well it so happened I saw the car before it was judged and very quickly pointed out the number on the back of the plenum. I am happy for Ken as he really gets off on that kind of stuff. Good for him. Thanks again, John

              Rich, Stu and John, The #10 chassis belongs to John Ames, Tom Ames' brother who lives in Florida. Knew he had bought an early '57 and was working on the chassis. Didn't dawn on me until we got to the Regional and saw John with the car that he was the one that owned the '57 #10 car. Tom Ames is working on '57 #213 for a client. There are alot of similarities except #10 was played with by GM Engineering. Ken had been looking for the #10 car for a long time.

              It was also great to have John Neas bring his SR-1 for Flight Judging.

              Stu and Rich, sorry we didn't connected as would've like to see y'al. Maybe next year. Regards, Gary....

                I thought that was you in the picture. Was good to finally meet you, Stu. I think everyone had a great time. I know I did.

                Oh, and thanks again for the book. I read some of it last night.

                  Michael and Gary;

                  It was nice to meet you both yesterday.

                  Michael; it is I that should thank you for that special treasured piece of history you gave me. I'm glad the book will be doing someone some good now. I have found it a good source of ready information, and try to hang on to this one, Ha!

                  Gary; actually we did hook up briefly yesterday and we chatted about the TDB and the weather, bla, bla etc. I don't expect you would remember as it was brief, and you were your usual busy self. Glad you got home ok, and happy that we were able to show you and the many other members present some warm Florida Hospitality.

                  All in all it appeared as though the meet was a great success.

                    Guys....yes, sorry I missed meeting you both. It's always so hectic at these meets and there were so many people. I was looking forward to meeting some of the crowd from here but couldn't find anyone.

                    My error......I thought it was Ken's car. I did talk with John too, but didn't realize it was actually his. It was a real treat seeing the '57 #10 chassis and learning the stories it told.

                      First, does anyone know how John (Neas') car (SR1) scored?

                      Second, is there a message there?

                      I didn't see any pictures (of John's SR1) here or in the other Kissimmee post. Anyone take any?

                        Tom, I was surprised that it was gone before the end of the judging. I went back to take all of those photos and wanted to get the SR1 too, but it was already gone. Rich

                          Tom;

                          Sorry. Didn't mean to step on any toes. I shot that off a little quick and forgot John's last name. This was the first time I met him and we spoke of you regarding the pictures you posted of his SR1 last week. He explained that some of them showed the throttle linkage set up for running both primaries together as both he and I have learned provides you with more low end torque for racing. We also compared notes on our mutual friend, Doug Marion, and about what we could do to get him to publish the info about the follow on (66+) Fuelie prototype equipment he still has.

                          I'm sure there are a lot of photos out there and some may be posted soon. I am still lost in the past and use my film Nikon's.

                              I missed something!

                              I haven't heard from Doug M. for a while. The last time he was in OKC, he spent the weekend at our house while doing several photo shoots for Chevy Rumble mag.
                              His Mom has been in very poor health and he finally had to put her in a home. That's been at least 2yrs ago and I haven't heard from him since. He sent me an email with pictures of all the FI stuff he had, because we had once discussed my acquiring it. He DID NOT want to part it out, it was all or none. I emailed him about it and have had no reply, so I don't know if he still has it or not.
