I've got two service 3124 carbs (pics below). They both have the "CS" suffix following the part # 3868826. The 653-dated has incorrect metering blocks (5800 & 5802); the 874-dated's m.b's are correct. Note 3rd pic of a 3124 currently on eBay -- dated 652 (one week earlier than my first pic) and it has NO suffix ???
FWIW, Colvin, in his Chev-by-the-Numbers, lists the CS suffix for the 3124.
Most carbs with assembly dates during the 396 Corvette production run have no suffix, and I'm wondering when (if ever) 3124 carbs that ended up on cars produced by EOP had the CS suffix.
There's a rough '544' (April, 4th week) one on eBay now [same date as carb pic in Noland's book]; neither have the suffix.
The '65 TIM&JG does not mention the possibility of a suffix.
Strange that a 3130 Holley (for 396/425hp passenger cars), dated 541, has the EF suffix following its part #; unrestored, on eBay.
