    C1 Master Cylinder ID

I am fairly new to the discussion board and I am looking for some help identifying the master cylinder on my 59.

There are several different numbers and I was wondering if someone might help me to identify if this is correct for my car. (Early production 59).

Casting Info: Delco Moraine 5458 022
    X130-9
    R4
Also on the end of the reservoir end cap the following numbers are stamped: 545 4480
    320-G

Also, there are 2 holes in the bottom of the reservoir, 1 large and 1 small, only the large hole is open to the piston, the other is plugged, with a steel insert. (Definitely not rust or debris).

    Any help would be appreciated.

pg 71 of the NCRS 58-60 Judging Manual will help you with this question and many other questions.

It says 5456022 is the right casting number and the 022 will be larger starting in January of 1959. Your "8" following the 545 is probably a "6" instead. The numbers 5454480 and 320-G are stamped into the metal expansion plug in the front of the master cylinder.

I just sent an December 1958 and a April 1960 master cylinder off to get rebuilt and they were identical except for the font size of the 022.

      Thanks Mark,

Upon further review you are correct about the numbers.

I don't believe there is a date code. The dates I provided were about 1 month before the delivery dates of the cars they came off of. It is my guess.
