    Valve cover ID

I noticed that standard C1 and early C2 Corvettes have the word Chevrolet stamped on the small engines but on big cam engines the finned valve covers are used and say Corvette. I also have seen Chevrolet passenger cars with the Corvette engine in they from the factory which also says Chevrolet and not Corvette. Anyone have any ides as to why all Corvette engines requardless of size did not say Corvette on them?

Because it cost tooling money to create Corvette-only parts, and they would be used at a very low volume level, resulting in very high piece cost; that's why finned aluminum "Corvette" valve covers were included in an engine option package.
