LS5 Valve Cover Grommets Painted?

Hello all,

Does anyone know if these grommets (both PCV and Air Cleaner) are painted with the engine or installed later and left black? Car is a late 71.

The grommets were installed at St. Louis and were, thus, free of paint.

Hi Joe:
My one owner 1971 LS-5 car, built in December 1970, was delivered with those 2 grommets in unpainted black rubber.
