    manifold vacuum advance

I'm trying to get manifold vacuum advance for my 1960. I'm running a Edelbrock torquer manifold and it has only one plug in it between the dizzy and the carby. I think it's designed for power brakes. I don't run power brakes so could I run this port for vacuum advance and will it work the same way ? Stewy

    Stewart:

I assume that this is a threaded connection into the aluminum manifold or manifold runner. If so, then it will provide the correct vacuum.

Remove the plug and hook up a vacuum gage. Should be around 14 - 20 inches HG vacuum at idle (depending on your cam and ignition timing). The amount of vacuum will also help to tell you if you have the right vac advance unit installed. Just remember "Duke's 2 IN HG vacuum rule".

Thanks Larry, the manifold is threaded so I will put a vacuum fitting on it.
