    Correct Aztec Copper Paint

Hello all. I am new to the forum but not to NCRS. I am currently restoring a 1956 that was originally painted Aztec Copper with Beige coves. I understand that there is a big conversary as to the correct shade for Aztec Copper Paint. I have not been able to find an original chip chart. I plan to match paint with my wheels which still have original paint. Does anyone have any suggestions for paint that will pass judging? Thanks!

Can anybody help Brooks out here. What is the correct paint mix for an Aztec Copper car?

Probably if you can find a body shop that has been around a long time they may have some old books with the paint chips in them. If you could find that it would be a start as far as color matching goes. Problem is going to be getting the correct size metalic and the correct color tint.

My friends body shop has a set of "color map" books.
They each (1 is metallic and the other is non-metallic) have many pages of color chips arranged in a logical manner so you can compare to your color and shift the shade and brightness in almost any direction.
Once you find the color you like you look up the number and formulas are usually provided.
I used this method to find formula for the Venetian Red and Beige colors for my 57.

For get about a paint chip and color code your best bet is to find an (OLD) paint guy and have him match the original wheel paint and paint flake .
Or find a person that made a top flight and got 100% on their paint color then ask them for the paint code

The problem with early paint chips, other then fading is that most of the formula referred to are obsolete. Most if not all of the pigments and vehicles used "back then" are no longer available.
