New NCRS member, new '92 ZR-1 owner!

    Hi All,

After lurking for a couple of weeks, I finally 'pulled the pin' and joined. I purchased my 1st corvette last summer, a Black/Gray '92 ZR-1 with 7000 miles. Everything on the car was portrayed as original, except the battery and filters.

Here's a question for all you C4 owners. I just received the '92-93 Corvette Technical Manual and noticed a discrepancy regarding floor mats. Mine are:
Drivers: 1053601 GB3 (with 2 blue 6's on the exterior edge)
Passenger: 10153602 GB3 (with a blue 8 to the left of the part #)

The manual (page 38) says the drivers mat # should be 10153601 GB3, and the passenger, 10153602 GB3. Does anyone have an explanation why I'd have a correct passenger mat and a non-matching (though close) driver's mat?

Thanks, everyone. This rookie is really learning a lot from these forums.

    Ralph:

    Welcome aboard.

My black/gray '92 LT1 is in storage, so I can't check my mats, but I gotta believe your mats are right if it has the velcro at the rear. Maybe a typo?

Worst case, you'll lose 6 points out of 4500. Your car should be a shoo-in for any award you want to try for. Good luck and have fun.

    Bill

Welcome, Ralph. Always glad to see another C4 owner. We're few and far between here. I own a ZR-1, 1990 w/15,000 miles. Can't help on the floor mat numbers right now, but will check when I get to the house.

I have a 1990 ZR-1 that took a hit on the floor mats. The original owner said they were the ones that came with the car. Who knows! Still 98.6 out of 100 is still OK...Jim

Thanks for the comments, guys. Hopefully, this post includes several pictures. I'm looking forward to joining a local chapter and showing the car. I'm still learning about all the awards and the steps necessary to qualify for them.

Bill, can you give me the vin # for your '92. I've been trying to compile a list of 1992 color combinations, and I'm curious whether your car is already on my list. (I started with one that was available on the zr1netregistry web site, and have been adding to it for the last several months). Folks at the NCM tell me they're in the process of scanning all their build sheets into a searchable database, so one day soon I can chuck the list.

Funny story about the mats. When I bought the car, the orignals were on the floor and a set of Lloyds was in the back. The broker thought the Lloyds were the originals. I guess even the pros get confused from time to time.

Looks like a typo in the production piece. 10153601 versus 1053601

Good luck with your Z. I too recently (last August) purchased a low mile ZR-1 (1995) to accompany my 67. They're great cars.

Very nice Ralph. Enjoy in good health. There's a lot going on under that hood.
