I believe that's the 55 I mentioned some months ago about the color being way to dark that was just restored. Hope he gets a good price ,

Tom! You know I'm into 55's I've seen so many 55's for sale that was JUST restored by some big name shop as the seller's mention , yet many times the color and parts are so wrong or missing that I just don't get it . Right now a 55 is on e-bay for $195,000.00 and missing shielding and wrong air cleaner and to many parts to list..Hard to feel sorry for a buyer that don't use some one that knows a 55 before buying or any year Corvette..

Ya, I looked at that car after you pointed out some of its discrepancies. Too bad. Oh well-----------------------
I'd LOVE to own a 55, but ONLY if it were a 3sp car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After all these years, I just never did learn to drive a car with an auto tranny.
Back in the days when these cars were dirt cheap, I was not aware that there were a few built with a 3sp, or I would have tried to buy one then. But at todays prices, just looking at one hurts my wallet!

If the 3 speed was a 'must', then you definitely would not want the one on Ebay. The tail housing pictured has a vent on top which would not exist on a 55/56. The tail housing (at a minimum) is a 57 or later and another example of an expensive part to replace.

IF, just IF, I had been able to buy a 55 3sp when they were affordable (35-45yrs ago), I would have done almost exactly the same thing to it that I have done to the 56:
Bigger SB (mimimum of a 350), but kept it single 4bl carb (probably AFB under stock air cleaner), sorry, that little 265 just doesn't cut it for me!
              4sp (probably a Muncie)
60-62 rear axle housing with 3.08 or 3.36 posi.
All of the above would be pure bolt-on parts with ZERO modification to the body, interior or suspension.

And of course, a top such as a Plasticon would be added.

Oh, I am SO SORRY, I forgot for a moment, this is the NCRS site!

I don't think I would pay his starting price of $65,500.00 to start with , with all the parts I see wrong and don't see , if I were the shop that worked on ether Corvette I would ask to have my name left out.
