Eric, what's your game plan to obtain a title? Just curious.

As to the earlier comments about the number of commercials, I couldn't agree more. It was unwatchable unless you recorded it and FF through the BS.

Jason, One is a Lola T90/90 S2000 Saturn powered race car. No title needed! the other is the Purple 1989 ZR1 It has a clean Clear title. It probably won't pass AZ emissions, but I also have a home in Michigan (State of the Current Title) So I will transfer the registration there. (no emmisions in that county) Apparently it has Fed Emissions Certs (Per John H.). Either way the new "Barney" won't see many miles. To rare 1 of 3 left...

Based on my discussions with some of the buyers of the more signifacant "Scrap" title offerings I would suspect that they will be driven with dealer plates attached.

Hi all , new to this site. I was at the Vegas auction And they had some nice Vettes there that I thought went for a lot less then it cost to restore them. I'm going to the Palm Beach one with a few guys just to have a good time and see some nice cars I hope. Having the car prices drop is like a double edge sword.I feel they were way to high and killed the hobby for us regular guys but on the other hand I have a few cars myself and like to see the prices up there if I ever decide to sell. I do all the work myself and to do a quality job your looking at 20-30k just in parts and it kills me when I see a car sell for that and think the poor guy did all that work for nothing. I'd be bored to death if I just bought a car and only had to wash it!

            Eric,

Let me just say, for the record, how jealous I am. What a great buy! Don't blame you for not driving it around much. I was always afraid some non-citizen would t-bone my 20 years of effort. Insurance wouldn't cover what I had in it by a long shot.

            Jim

Well let me say I am overwhelmed by this purchase (both financially and it's history) I hope to get it out and show it often. This one won't be squirreled away in some large private collection.

Retitling a scrap title in CA is not too difficult.
DMV has to do a VIN inspection, should not be a problem for the GM cars.
Then they need an official brake and light inspection, also shouldn't be a problem if they both work.
Most of those late GM cars should pass a smog, or could be made to pass.
There is also the "swap meet title" avenue, which can be made to work.
"No Mrs. DMV employee that really is a '66 Chevy, I just put a newer body on it, see here the original stamping on the frame..."

In Michigan, once the title changes to "Scrap" it's done. The car can never be retitled, unless it is repaired with another non scrap title car. To get a scrap title all you need to do is write scrap on it and turn it in to a Sec State office. They will then issue the scrap. I have heard of a couple collector cars being scrapped out of spite after a divorce!!!
