68 BB Exhaust Manifolds w/ A.I.R.

Can someone tell me the difference between exhaust manifolds sold by Paragon, corvette America ... from the original manifolds. Can someone advise me what I should be looking for regarding the markings and/or flaws.

Jeff, I have an original BB 400hsp car. All 68's came with A.I.R. If I can be of help, let me know.

What is the difference between the repops sold by paragon/corvette america .. vs the original exhaust manifolds. Do you you have any pics or any you explaination what I should look out for.

I just bought a set of used originals from Chicago Corvette Supply. They were blasted, the A.I.R. threads are great and the stud threads are good too. Excellent condition for 565.00. They are for my 69.

Jeff -- here's 2 pics of a RH '828' manifold off an early '68 (G_8_7), which I use as a paperweight . Maybe others can comment on visible differences between this and the current repros.

Notice the hole the size of a pencil [left thumbnail], where loose or broken motor mount allowed the motor to rotate on acceleration and hit the upper A-arm (previous owners, I swear).

Can take close-ups of a particular feature, if you want.

FYI - I called Chicago Corvette and talked to the sale rep I have used in the past other parts for my 63 Coupe and I bought the last set of original exhaust manifolds for my 68 BB from them yesterday. Thanks Jeff

I recieved my original dated exhaust manifolds yesterday from chicago corvette and they came out great. I plained the ports so there is a nice tight fit. I posted a pic to check out. Thanks - Jeff

They were coated with heat treated cast blast
