I just got a very interesting link to an ebay auction from Wayne Midkiff. Remember all that noise I was making a few months ago (and several years ago) about black stators?
This seller has an NOS 1100696 alternator for sale and the stator ribs are.... yes, black!
Wayne was one of the guys that first agreed on the black color instead of the caramel color. He provided additional proof in the form of an NOS stator that also had the black painted ribbed center section.
Bet this alternator gets expensive!
I think this ebay page, or at least the pic's of the alternator, should be copied and printed, especially the folks with the black stator ribs. Could come in handy at a car show if a judge disagrees on the black coating.
