Daytona Blue, I think you know it very well Sorry for the delay getting back.

At any rate I tried both the Adam's stuff and the Turtle Wax Ice. After claying I used Adam's swirl remover(20%) with their Revive wax and wasn't really that happy with it. The finish looked to be even less shiny then when I first washed it. So, I tried the Ice product. I have to say this stuff is phenomenal. It seems to nourish the paint and at the same time restore color. The shine is great too. I did notice that in some spots the product causes an oily "seeping" look shortly after applying in the badly checked areas. I've done one wash since then and it has disappeared leaving a nice shine on what's left of the old lacquer paint. The areas that Ice seemed to restore color have lasted the first wash too. I'll have to see if that "seeping" reappears but so far so good. For some reason I knew that the synthetic Ice would win out. The product also has some UV inhibitors so that's another thing I like about it. I'll let you know if there are any further updates on how the product holds up.

Was that the liquid like pink stuff? If so it was safe and worked wonders without harming the paint on my old survivor 57.

[quote=John McNeely (49684);392176]Whatever you do, avoid using ICE on a Black or very Dark colored car.

I don't know if it's a silicone based material, or what it is, but it leaves oily smears that will leave you rubbing for hours to remove it.

Nice for hiding minor spider webbing, but I learned this lesson the hard way on my Black 69.

I've used ICE on my black '61 and have been very happy with the results.

Yep, noticed that. That's what has seemed to disappear after washing. It seems like all waxed cars look best after the first wash.

I want to see if that "oiliness" reappears? If not, the benefits far outweigh that inconvenience up until the first wash. My guess is washing the car later gets rid of it. It seems like there's no right answer to car detailing but in my experience, so far so good with Ice.

Right Joe! I had a gallon of that stuff and put it on the '78 SA in the summer of '86. It has always been covered with a flannel lined cover in a garageand is as slick and shiney today as it was in '86. It is remarkable stuff! it is also on my '57 that was painted in '65.

The "Pink Stuff" that you are talking about was 3M Fill and Glaze, now obsolete. It has been replaced by Imperial Hand Glaze #05990. Neither contains any silicone or wax. Is absolutely wonderful to take swirl marks out of paint. Easy on, easy off

Scott, I tried the "ICE" product when it first came out, on my 57 with 20 year old nitrocelulose laquer. The trick is, after you finish waxing the car is to mist the body with cold water, then dry it. This hardens the wax, & makes the shine deeper. This is why it looks better after the first wash as described above. Barry Holmes

                    Thats it!

I remember running out and could not find it any more at the time. It was one of those rare items that worked like magic...to get rid of swirl marks and no residue. Great on the old Black 57.
