68 B/B exhaust systems Available Gardner Exhaust

Well since I don't Post that often on the Technical Discussion but rather respond to questions. I made a mistake in posting in the Discussion Board Help.
I did see that flashing red letters- Please do not post- But I was a little exited in getting the information out regarding 68 B/B exhaust pipes that are now available. So now I have posted in the Technical Discussion board to make sure all has a chance to finally get a correct exhaust system set for the 68 an 69 vettes.

The pictures of the 68 front 4sp pipe and auto are in the Discussion Board and I can't seem to delete that posting so I can put the pictures on this discussion board.

After many many years of searching for the correct Exhaust pipes for my 68 B/B I did find an excellent used forward set and at that time I really didn't want to put the originals on my car and another reason was trying to find a correct set up for my friend Terry Fringo who also has a 68 B/B 4 spd car.
Well after many years of trying to find a vendor who can reproduce the set up, Eric Gardner of Gardner Exhaust Systems has reproduced the correct pipes. It is as close as factory as you can get. Correct bends and correct curves and all. I have seen other reproduction front forward pipes and they are not the same unless you have an original untouched car.

I've been collecting for so many years I even collected NOS front pipes and mid section pipes for the 69 B/B car 4sp and auto. I also sent these pipes to Eric and he is now ready to sell the 69 4sp and auto set up. All the bends and crinkled bends are like the originals. You think the 68 pipes is hard to find. The 69 Auto B/B pipe is just as rare!!!

Here is a picture of the 68 B/B forward exhaust pipes for 4sp part number 3880401 and the other pipe is for an 68 auto 39121600.
So the long search and loosing my hair over the years in finding a nice set for my car it is now available.

I hope I assisted the 68 B/B owners/restorers getting one nice item as correct as possible for your car. Eric can't put the Embossed W on the muffler as it has to do with Branding laws but I think his off road mufflers are made with the same design as the off road mufflers as in the old days.

I was going to send him a pair of used off road mufflers but someone already did and he has them in stock and ready for shipping.

You can contact Eric Gardner.... a great Vendor to deal with and a Great guy to work with.

        Grant,

Is Gardner duplicating these pipes with double wall constructed piping, as originals were?

On the original pipe is the doughnut installed over the exhaust pipe with the end being different that a judge can see when the Gardner pipe is installed? I see the doughnut is on the original pipe.

            Grant,

I went to the Gardner Exhaust website and they do not have a link to a '68/'69 exhaust system. Are they in production or do they make each as a custom order? How are they on price?

Also on a side note, are you planning to submit your knownledge of the '68 bumpers, door sills and more to the '68/'69 TJM revision team? (I hope so)The submission area is on this disscussion board.

            Thanks,

            Terry

              Hi Lyle
              Here is Eric's reply.
              Thanks, Grant

We have the donuts and the extensions that drop into the front pipes I just did not do it for the picture. Originally they may have been press fitted but we absolutely do provide the extension and the donut just like the original

                Hi Warren
Here is Eric's reply. Also I sent you an email as to your search for your 71 fan clutch. What month are you looking for. If you can tell me the assembly date of your engine and the final assembly date. I have a few of them.
                Thanks, Grant

I am not sure. I can tell you that double wall tubing is not available anywhere so that will not be a possibility. I think it may have been used for longevity of the system but that has been circumvented by alluminized tubing and stainlesss tubing.

                Eric

                  Hi Terry
I'm trying to finish up some renovations in the garage. Took a week off work and its a slow process. Just like restoring a car. I will try and submit it this week.

Regarding the 69 exhaust system. I think on Monday he was getting some more dies to do the 69 system to put the correct crinkle folds in the curved portion of the mid section pipes.
The best thing to do is just email Eric and he will give you all the information. I have an original 2 inch system taken off a low mileage car and the NOS mid section pipes are exactly the same shape and form and these are the pipes I sent him. So he is making them just like the originals.

                  Thanks. Grant
