I have a set of heads with casting number 3904391 and dated H16 on one and K216 on the other. The car is a 1966 427 with the engine being replaced in the early 70's. The block casting number is 3999289 dated K1473 which I assume was a 1973 block. From my restoration book the heads are for a 1967 427 but the date stamp identifies the heads as being built in 1966. Could these be the correct heads from the factory . When the engine was replaced by the previous owner I'm not sure if it was a short or long block replacement.

Re: Correct Heads
Walter,
The last '66 would have been produced in late July 1966. The 391 heads are for a '67. The H16 code would be July 1, 1966. The K216 code would indicate November 21, 1966. I'm not familiar with the block number, but if the K is a month code that probably indicates November as well. Is that a L-36 or L-72 car?
