Anyone own a '74 - LS4 - 4spd Corvette equipped with its original Quadrajet carburetor (7044221)? I'm interested in hearing what two (2) letter broadcast code, a.k.a. assembly plant code is stamped on it. In the '73-'74 TIM & JG, the two letter broadcast code identified for this carb is FX, however, I've spoken to some who've seen this same carb with a DX code, which the JG matches up to an LS4 auto and NB2 (Calif. delivered) with the number 7044505. Thanks.

Re: Rare Quadrajet Carburetor (clarification confirmed)
I've confirmed through an NCRS Judge/friend that the correct broadcast code for this 7044221 carburetor is DX. By comparision, my '73 & '74 TIM & JG (WINTER 1999 - Second Edition, First Printing) was missing one of the updates inserted between pages 60 & 61 that addressed this FX typo. Given how long it's taken to locate such a carb, I'm very happy for the confirmed results and glad to share for others to learn and benefit.- Top

Re: Rare Quadrajet Carburetor
Raymond,
Congratulations on finding the proper carb. I am looking for the same one, my 74 was built 13 Nov. Right now it has a Holley with an adapter plate. Due to the plate I can not fit an air cleaner under the hood. I borrowed a friends to see the fit, no joy. I'm finding it also very tough to locate a proper ring for a BB.
